What is Realism and Idealism?

I want to know what the difference is. What is an idealist and a realist? I was also wondering if there are some books on realism and idealism that you would recommend. Thank you.

Though your question seeks the difference in theory and practice relative to possibility and ability,

The opposite of real is imaginary, based on the basis of view.
Both real and imaginary are ideas. Cannot think anything outside ideas.
