Everyone discuss the methods (how to do it) of Samatha meditation and Vidarshana (vipassana) meditation.

What are the main goals of these two types of meditation that contribute to the main goal of Buddhism, which is nibbāna?
@Sati, How does 'stillness' and 'insight' contribute to nibbāna?

@S.I. Mitchell,
