Is Government a Private Limited Company?

DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF SRI LANKA is the official name for Sri Lanka. But it is registered as a trade name for a private limited company / corporation.
If so it is not a Government, as you expect it to be.

Check status with:

They are reputed websites for company listings all over the word.

Reconfirm using official website of the “Department of Registrar of Companies - Sri Lanka”

  • www.drc.gov.lk   “Department of Registrar of Companies”

There is an option to find companies as “A-Z Company names” and under “D” catogory it is not shown due to the inability to show the rest of company names after “DEE TEC ELECTRONICS (PRIVATE) LIMITED”. Looks like that is a technical error. But there is another option to “Search Exiting Companies” and when sarch “DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF SRI LANKA” in the search box, we can get this answer.
UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION IN THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF SRI LANKA

By observing the above all information, Sri Lanka is registered as an associate private liability company with the “United Nations”. But according to the Company Act 2007 No 7, a PLC or PVT LTD company shall not be registered using the word “Sri Lanka” unless by Sri Lankan government or government department.

Check "Central Bank of Sri Lanka"

A private limited company may not have legal obligation to send annual reports to share holders.

It is possible to sell (loan/mortgage/gamble) following resources for profit:

  •  "DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF SRI LANKA", the monopoly corporation of the country.
  • "Departments/Corporations" Eg: Sri Lankan Air Lines, National Insurance Corporation
  • "Persons" Eg: President, Chief Justice, Any Citizen (human resource)
